Sailing Diploma

At the Yacht Club of Greece (YCG), an Offshore Sailing School operates for obtaining a sailing diploma. The school has been restructured and now runs under new standards.

The instructors, Theodoros Georgiadis and Thodoris Tsoulfas, who crew these vessels, are champions with extensive experience in offshore racing, sailing instruction, and coaching.

The course lasts approximately two (2) months and includes seven (7) theoretical lessons and eight (8) practical training sessions.

The theoretical training takes place every Wednesday from 20:00 to 22:00 at the NOE facilities, while the practical lessons are held every Saturday or Sunday from 10:00 to 16:00.

The training includes:

  • Introduction to the boat. Terminology. Nautical knots
  • Sail operation & adjustment. Changing tacks with sails
  • Aerodynamics. Hydrodynamics
  • Nautical charts. GPS
  • International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea
  • Navigation. Sailing – passage planning
  • Boat maneuvers in port. Basic knowledge of the propulsion engine
  • Use of safety equipment. Telecommunications – VHF
  • Handling emergency situations
  • Meteorology
  • Night sailing

Upon successful completion of the course, a recognized Sailing Diploma is awarded.

The total cost is €490 (upon completing the registration form, you pay €250, and the remaining amount is paid by the third practical lesson).
