At the Yacht Club of Greece (YCG)<\/strong>, an Offshore Sailing School<\/strong> operates for obtaining a sailing diploma<\/strong>. The school has been restructured<\/strong> and now runs under new standards<\/strong>.<\/p>

The instructors, Theodoros Georgiadis<\/strong> and Thodoris Tsoulfas<\/strong>, who crew these vessels, are champions<\/strong> with extensive experience in offshore racing<\/strong>, sailing instruction<\/strong>, and coaching<\/strong>.<\/p>

The course lasts approximately two (2) months<\/strong> and includes seven (7) theoretical lessons<\/strong> and eight (8) practical training sessions<\/strong>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The theoretical training takes place every Wednesday from 20:00 to 22:00 at the NOE facilities, while the practical lessons are held every Saturday or Sunday from 10:00 to 16:00.<\/strong><\/h5>

The training includes:<\/p>

  • Introduction to the boat. Terminology. Nautical knots<\/li>
  • Sail operation & adjustment. Changing tacks with sails<\/li>
  • Aerodynamics. Hydrodynamics<\/li>
  • Nautical charts. GPS<\/li>
  • International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea<\/li>
  • Navigation. Sailing \u2013 passage planning<\/li>
  • Boat maneuvers in port. Basic knowledge of the propulsion engine<\/li>
  • Use of safety equipment. Telecommunications \u2013 VHF<\/li>
  • Handling emergency situations<\/li>
  • Meteorology<\/li>
  • Night sailing<\/li><\/ul>

    Upon successful completion of the course, a recognized Sailing Diploma is awarded.<\/p>
